Medical college principal Dr RC Gupta has formed a committee of three members under Dr Gyaneshwar Taak to probe the incident and submit its report in three days.

“The incident was unfortunate and the committee has been asked to submit a report after enquiring into the issue,” said Dr Gupta.

Meanwhile, parents of the patient, Kunal, also have complained against junior doctors Abhishek Verma, Aditya Yadav and Abdul Mannan at the medical college police station.

Five-year-old Kunal, son of Deepa Kumar, a resident of village Kamalpur, sustained an injury on his thumb from the fodder machine. He was brought into emergency on Monday night where Dr Abhishek, Dr Aditya and Dr Abdul were on duty.

The child was in pain and one of the attendants reportedly asked doctors to treat him gently. This reportedly annoyed the doctors and led to a confrontation between doctors and caretakers. The patient’s family members accused doctors of beating them up.

Someone made a video of the incident which went viral on social media and taking cognisance of it, Dr Gupta placed the three doctors under suspension.

Dr Gupta said that the junior doctors told him that they were taking a photograph of the child’s wound to send it to seniors to seek their advice for treatment. One of the caretakers snatched the mobile phone and smashed it to the ground which led to the altercation.
