For the exams beginning from January 11, in all 4,00,614 students from 653 colleges affiliated to the university will appear in the postgraduate and undergraduate courses. For this, 132 centres have been identified by the university including 66 centres in Prayagraj, 20 in Fatehpur, 12 in Kaushambi and 34 in Pratapgarh, university officials said.

Avinash Srivastava, public relations officer of the state university, said, “The undergraduate odd semester examinations will be conducted from January 11 to February 9, for which 3,43,767 students have registered. Of these, 1,97,125 are men and 1,46,642 are women candidates,” he added.

He further said that 56,847 candidates have registered for the postgraduate (odd semester) examination. Of these, 23,571 are men and 33,276 are women candidates. This exam will be held from January 19 to February 6. Of the total registered candidates of the different colleges of the four districts of the Prayagraj division, 35,962 are registered for the exam from Prayagraj, 13,937 from Pratapgarh, 4,586 from Fatehpur and 2,362 from Kaushambi.

This time only reputed colleges have been made exam centres to prevent cheating. Also, this time, the number of centres is far less than as compared to the previous examinations, so that proper monitoring can be done.

On the other hand, managers of some colleges affiliated to the university, are unhappy with the decision of the university administration while making examination centres. A group of such college managers alleged irregularities in the determination of examination centres.

Alleging irregularities in centre allocation for examinations, the managers of several colleges held a protest sit-in on Sunday in front of the vice chancellor’s residence. Managers alleged that the women students of some colleges have been given the facility of self-centres, while the centres of the women students of other colleges have been made in other colleges which are 15-20 km away. The managers are demanding to provide self-centre option to all women students or to send all the women students to other centres.

The college authorities are expected to take a decision in this regard in a couple of days.
