A former Congress candidate from Dehri assembly constituency in Bihar, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2010 polls, has been arrested from Surajkund in Haryana a decade after he fled to Delhi to evade police that had launched a hunt for him in connection with a number of cases, including of murder, police said.

The man, Jahid Parvez, was arrested by Rohtas police on Sunday and brought to Dehri on Monday.
Parvez was wanted in a case of murder of a man who was said to be a police informer, besides a case of attempt to murder and Arms Act case in Dehri in 2012 and another case of abduction of a minor girl in Patna in 2013.
Rohtas superintendent of police (SP) Ashish Bharti said that following a manhunt, Parvez had fled to Delhi, where he set up a real estate business. He said Parvez was arrested from his farmhouse at Surajkund.
Sources said police had already attached his properties in Rohtas and frozen his bank accounts.
