The accused officer, Sandeep Khedekar, allegedly sought money to avoid registering a criminal offence against the complainant in a cheating complaint that had been submitted at the police station.
The complainant, a 40-year-old man, approached the ACB on February 3 after the officer initially demanded ₹2 lakh to settle the matter.
Following the complaint, ACB officials conducted a verification on February 3. During the inquiry, it was allegedly confirmed that the officer had reduced the demand to ₹1 lakh for himself and for his seniors. Based on the findings, the ACB registered a case on March 9 under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
