PUNE: Deputy chief minister and finance minister Ajit Pawar proposed Rs1,500 crore for the Pune ring road and pledged a contribution of 80% of the cost of the Pune-Nashik high-speed railway. Pawar was presenting the annual state budget for the year 2022-23 in the Maharashtra legislative assembly.

“The ring road has been proposed around Pune. A total amount of Rs1,500 crore has been kept aside for it in the year 2022-23,” Pawar said. The central government too plans to contribute to this project.
Pawar said, “The land acquisition for the Pune-Nashik railway is already in progress. The central and state governments have given their green signal to this project. The Maharashtra government will bear 80% of the project cost while the state government will ensure that there are enough funds for the same.”
Along with these projects, Pawar also made provision for various other projects including the development of forts and tourist places.
