At the same time, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar was also in the city on Saturday and has taken a dig at Prime Minister for launching an incomplete metro project.

Of the 31-kilometre stretch of two corridors, two priority lines with each around 5.5 km will be launched by Modi. The BJP was pushing for the project ahead of civic polls while also making Modi’s visit to the city a mega event to initiate its campaign.

During his visit, Modi plans to hold a public meeting where he is expected to speak about various political issues. He will also lay the foundation stone for various projects worth 3,000 crores and undertake a ride in Metro train after its launch.

The BJP hopes to ride on work displayed through the Metro project during civic elections.

Congress, meanwhile, has also put-up hoardings across the city with the message “Go back, Modi.”

The police have made ample security arrangements to quell the protests by opposition parties.
