Between July 22 to July 28, 28,418 tests were conducted in Pune district and between July 29 to August 4 24,623 tests were done.

Even though Pune district is the second district to conduct the highest number of tests after Thane in state, the number of tests conducted are 0.87 times less between July 29 to August 4.

Dr Pradeep Awate, state surveillance officer said that as per directions by the central government, adequate testing will be undertaken in all the districts.

“State health department has issued directions to increase testing to districts. When the cases were less, 30,000 tests were done daily, and now 42,000 tests are conducted,” said Dr Awate.

On Tuesday, 1,782 new cases were reported in Maharashtra and seven deaths were reported. Case fatality rate in the state is at 1.83%.

On Tuesday, 394 cases were reported in Pune district and two deaths were reported from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Till Tuesday, there are BA.4 and BA.5 patients; the tally is 275 and that of BA.2.75 are 250.
