Pune police have acted against an alleged racket involving forged documents issued to schools for getting affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), officials said on Tuesday.

An FIR was registered on Monday late night against an unidentified person by Samarth police for allegedly providing fake No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to three education institutions. Schools and Junior colleges in Maharashtra require NOC from the state government’s education department to get affiliated with the central board.
Officials said three alleged fake NOCs from the department of School Education and Sports Department of the state government of Maharashtra, were submitted to CBSE for affiliation with three educational institutes from Pune.
A case has been registered based on the complaint filed by Sunanda Wakhare, who works as an education officer at Pune Zilla Parishad. The accused person has been booked for cheating, forgery and dishonestly related sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These educational institutes fall under the jurisdiction of the Pune Zilla Parishad.
The incident took place before 14 July 2022 and after verification of the complaint, an FIR was lodged, officials said.
In her complaint, Wakhare mentioned that on September 1, 2022, she received letters from Audumbar Ukirde, deputy director of education and Samir Samant, deputy secretary.
As per their correspondence, educational institutes including Public Schools and Junior Colleges, MP International School and Junior College Shivajinagar, Namo RIMS International School and Junior College received fake NOC certificates.
Ramesh Sathe, senior police inspector (SPI) at Samarth Police station said, as per the complaint received an FIR against unknown persons has been lodged for preparing fake NOC certificates.
A case has been registered under IPC sections 465 (Punishment for forgery), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (Whoever fraudulently or dishonestly uses as genuine any document which he knows or has reason to believe to be a forged) and further investigation is going on.
According to Sathe, the educational institutions claim that they do not have CBSE schools and have not obtained any NOCs.
