Female employee at supermarket consumes poison, dies during treatment

A 21-year-old supermarket employee in Pune died after consuming poison at work, possibly linked to emotional stress. An investigation is ongoing.

PUNE: A 21-year-old woman employed at a supermarket in Pimpri-Chinchwad died on Sunday after allegedly consuming poison at her workplace, police said on Monday.

According to preliminary findings, the woman consumed a toxic substance during her shift. Other employees learned about it when she complained of uneasiness and began vomiting. She was rushed to a hospital in Thergaon, where she died during treatment on Sunday night.

Police said the woman may have been under emotional stress. Investigators are looking into a possible relationship issue as one angle behind the suspected suicide, though they have not drawn a conclusion yet.

An accidental death report (ADR) has been registered and further investigation is ongoing.
