The Maha-Metro on Friday successfully carried out a 2.74 km trial run from Garware college metro station to Civil court metro station. The metro train left Garware college station at 2.30 pm and after crossing Deccan station, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan station and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) station, it reached Civil court station at 3.10 pm. Civil court metro station is the interchange station where both lines of the Pune metro meet.

Maha-Metro officials celebrated the milestone with great enthusiasm and greeted the metro train with cheers upon its arrival at Civil court station. The track department, viaduct department, O&M department, traction department, signal department, telecom department, and rolling stock department all worked round-the-clock for the trial run.

A spokesperson from the Maha-Metro said, “The test was conducted as per the schedule and as per the planned objectives. In the next few days, more trial runs will be conducted to check and inspect the working of all the systems.”

Brijesh Dixit, managing director, Maha-Metro, said, “Today’s trial from Garware college station to Civil court station is a very important milestone. Civil court station is an interchange station connecting both the lines of the Pune metro. Soon, Phugewadi station to Civil court station will be tested and this route will be opened to the public in the next few months.”

After the successful Garware college station-Civil court station trial run, a similar trial run will be carried out from Phugewadi station to Civil court station. The work of the metro stations is going on in full swing on both lines of the Pune metro. Once the work on both the lines is completed, the CMRS inspection will take place. These routes will be opened to the public after the requirements of the CMRS are met.
