Man arrested in Chakan for allegedly insulting national flag

The accused was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he arrived at a public spot carrying the national flag and is accused of disrespecting it in full public view

A 29-year-old man was arrested on Monday in Chakan for allegedly insulting the Indian national flag. The accused, Asif Sheikh, a Chakan resident originally from Delhi, was taken into custody following an incident on April 16 at Thakarvasti Chowk.

According to police, Sheikh was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he arrived at a public spot carrying the national flag and is accused of disrespecting it in full public view, triggering outrage among residents.

A team from Chakan Police Station reached the spot, detained Sheikh, and later formally arrested him.
