Man beaten to death for non-payment of debt in Pune
Bharati Vidyapeeth police in Pune have arrested two repeated offenders for killing a 32-year-old man over non-payment of debt
The Bharati Vidyapeeth police have arrested two repeated offenders for killing a 32-year-old man over non-payment of debt, said officials on Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as Vishal Chandrakant Amrale (35) resident of Bibwewadi and Lahu Janardan Mane (40), resident of Sukhasagarnagar.
According to officials, the deceased, Nikhil alias Sanket Chandrashekhar Anubhule, a construction worker and a resident of Ambegaon Budruk, borrowed ₹28,000 from Amrale. Despite repeated reminders, he was unable to pay the debt.
As per the complaint filed by deceased’s wife Harshada Anubhule (24), between November 15 and 16, the accused called her husband and asked him to meet at KK Market in Bibwewadi. When he reached there, the accused kidnapped him and beat him to death.
Shrihari Bhairat, senior police inspector at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station said, “We initially reported this as an accidental death, however, after the investigation and analysis of various documents, we can confirm that Anubhule was killed due to non-payment of debt. After technical analysis, we have arrested the accused, and search for others involved is underway.”
A case under sections 302 (murder), 364 (whoever kidnaps or abducts any person in order that such person may be murdered), 388 (extortion by threat of accusation of an offence punishable with death), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
