Pune: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Pune Commissionerate arrested a woman passenger and seized high-value hydroponic weed (marijuana) at the Pune International Airport, officials said on Thursday.
Passenger held with drug worth ₹72.2 lakh at Pune airport
The woman was intercepted upon arrival on Air India Express Flight IX 241 from Bangkok on December 6.
Authorities recovered 722 grams of hydroponic weed, valued at approximately ₹72.2 lakh, from her luggage concealed inside two sealed cylindrical cans resembling food containers with chip-like images, making detection difficult.
The narcotics were seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and the passenger was placed under arrest.
