Stronger CSR partnerships needed to transform state’s healthcare: Minister Abitkar

The minister was speaking at a meeting under the “Maharashtra Impact and Sustainability Convergence Programme” attended by leading national and international organisations in Mumbai on Friday

Maharashtra public health minister Prakash Abitkar said that stronger coordination between the government, the corporate sector and corporate social responsibility (CSR) organisations will play a crucial role in transforming the state’s healthcare system into a more effective, inclusive and sustainable model.

The minister was speaking at a meeting under the “Maharashtra Impact and Sustainability Convergence Programme” attended by leading national and international organisations in Mumbai on Friday.

He said that in addition to central and state government funding, mobilising CSR resources would help bring about a significant transformation in the healthcare system.

“Healthcare is a service of great social value, and while progress has been made, there is a need to scale up efforts significantly,” Abitkar said.

According to the health officials, the state has established a State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC) on the lines of the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) to carry out grading and gap analysis of healthcare institutions.
