Thieves break into Air Force officer’s house, decamp with jewellery worth ₹4.40L
According to police, jewellery worth about ₹4.40 lakh, including gold chains, rings, mangalsutras and bracelets, was stolen.
PUNE: Thieves broke into the house of an Indian Air Force officer in the Dapodi area of Pune while he and his family were in a movie theatre, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the officer, Mukesh Kumar Sudheshwar Singh, lives inside the College of Military Engineering (CME) campus. On Sunday evening, he locked his house and went out with his family at around 6pm to go to a cinema theatre to watch the movie, Border-2.
Taking advantage of their absence, unidentified persons broke open the door and entered the house and ransacked it. When the family returned at around 11pm, they found cupboards broken open and household items scattered.
Singh immediately informed Dapodi police, who registered a case against unknown thieves on Monday. Police teams have started checking CCTV footage in and around the house as part of their investigation.
According to police, jewellery worth about ₹4.40 lakh, including gold chains, rings, mangalsutras and bracelets, was stolen.
Following the incident, other residents of the military campus have demanded better security arrangements.
