Bangalore Royal Challengers win a thriller
Bangalore Royal Challengers beat Kings XI Punjab by eight runs in their Indian Premier League match at Kingsmead on Friday, reports Atreyo Muhkopadhyay. Full Coverage| Listen to podcast
Yuvraj Singh will remember Kingsmead as much as Vengsarkar remembers Lord's or Azharuddin Eden Gardens. No other player in the brief history of T20 cricket has the distinction hitting six sixes in an over and claiming a hat-trick. At Kingsmead, Yuvraj has both.

The focus of Friday's Kings XI Punjab-Bangalore Royal Challengers sellout was on Anil Kumble, who achieved the unusual feat of becoming captain of an IPL side after retiring from international cricket.
The only player to have hit every ball of an over for maximum in the history of T20 internationals remembers vividly how and where he had smacked Stuart Broad in September 2007. Now, three balls he bowled will also find an indelible place in Yuvraj's memory card.
Over No 11.5: Robin Uthappa tried to lift one over deep mid-wicket that was slower than what he thought. It took a top edge and went up high for an easy catch.
Over No 11.6: Jacques Kallis tried to cut an arm ball that was too close. Also, the bat came down late allowing the ball to sneak through.
Over No 13.1: This was faster, fuller and hurried in after pitching. Mark Boucher tried to play it off his legs but missed the line and was hit on the front pad.
The Royal Challengers still posted a challenging total thanks to some big hits from Roelof van der Merwe. But Yuvraj wasn't done yet. He opened the innings and after a quiet start, exploded, clouting some huge sixes on the on side including one off Kumble that went out of the stadium.
Kumble exacted revenge in the same over by tossing one up which Yuvraj miscued and there the game turned. Kumble led from the front, and Bangalore held their nerve for an 8-run win. There was a hat-trick and heartbreak for Yuvraj as RCB raced up the points table.
