Dhananjaya de Silva to replace Kusal Perera in Sri Lanka’s squad for tri-nation ODIs

Kusal Perera’s side strain has given Dhananjaya de Silva the opportunity to return to Sri Lanka’s squad for the remaining matches of the tri-nation ODI series against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

Kusal suffered a side strain while batting in Sunday’s crucial victory over Zimbabwe in Dhaka and has been told to rest.

That opens the door for Dhananjaya to link up with the squad, the top-order batsman in contention to add to his 17 one-day international appearances.

Dhananjaya made an unbeaten century as Sri Lanka batted out a draw in the third Test against India in Delhi.

Captain Angelo Mathews will miss the rest of the series against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh and is a doubt for the Test series against the Tigers due to a hamstring injury.
