“The medical board has reported that Shoaib Akhtar was suffering from genital viral warts (a type of viral skin disease usually classified under sexually transmitted disease — STD) and the wound needs further care and treatment for another 10 days,” the PCB said.

He said the medical board has recommended another medical assessment of Shoaib in the first week of June. Pacer Rao Iftikhar or all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez are most likely to replace Shoaib.

PCB hopes for positive result in ICC meeting

Lahore: Pakistan said it is hoping for a positive outcome from next month’s ICC meeting to resolve a dispute after the country was stripped of its World Cup 2011 matches over security concerns.

"The ICC has scheduled a meeting in Dubai on June 3 to discuss the World Cup 2011 matters in which PCB is also invited," the Pakistan Cricket Board said.
