Giles Shield: Om Malkar's double century helped VPM’s Vidya Mandir School defeat St. Arnold High School by 352 runs.

Om Malkar smashed a double century and Laksh Varma scalped seven as VPM’s Vidya Mandir School defeated St. Arnold High School by 352 runs in their second round Giles Shield match on Monday.

After Malkar’s 218 powered his team to 371/7, Varma picked up seven wickets conceding just five runs to bundle out the opposition for 19 in five overs.

Bangkok Rapid Chess: Mumbai boy Aryaveer wins silver

Eight-year-old Aryaveer Pittie won silver medal in the Under-8 category of the Bangkok Rapid Chess Championship that concluded in Bangkok on Sunday.

Competitors from seven countries took part in the junior rapid chess tourney. Aryaveer of American School of Bombay earned silver with a score of 4 points out of the possible 6. Thailand's Suthiponpaisarn Proudpitcha took the gold with a score of 5/6.

Vasai Virar Marathon: Rathor betters course record

Defending champion Mohit Rathor ran the fastest race with a timing of 2:18:05 to emerge overall elite men’s champion of the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon.

Rathor bettered the previous course record of 2:22.04 set by Rashpal Singh in 2018. Army Sports Institute's Arjun Pradhan came second clocking 2:20:11 while Anish Thapa was third at 2:20:50. Ashvini Jadhav won the open women category with a timing of 3:00:54.

MCC Pro-40 League: MCC (Black) win close encounter

Defending champions MCC (Black) defeated MCC (Orange) by three wickets in a high-scoring match of the 6-team MCC Double-Leg Pro-40 League at the Oval Maidan. In another game, Atharva Nandgave captured 5/29 as JSF bundled out MCC (Red) for 163 for a 38-run victory.
