Rayudu, who had limped off the ground after pulling a muscle while fielding and was sitting in the dug out, sprang into action and replaced Jacob.

KXIP skipper Adam Gilchrist was surprised to see him back and had a chat with Sachin Tendulkar before play resumed.

“When you are out, you are not fit. I know there is no rule or regulation against it but a question needs to be asked: 'he is either fit or not fit?' Gilchrist later told reporters. “I will leave it to you guys to judge whether it's appropriate or not.”
