Hayden will get a grand farewell at Sydney

Australian opener Matthew Hayden denied himself a worthy farewell after suddenly announcing his retirement last month. But now the burly Queenslander will be given one last hurrah in front of a packed house on Sunday night at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Hayden will team up with his former team mates Steve Waugh, Mark Taylor and Glenn McGrath during the Twenty20 extravaganza at the SCG to raise funds for the Bushfires Appeal. The Twenty20 match on Sunday, which is also known as Australia's Big Bash, will see Taylor and Waugh as opposing captains.

After his final Test against South Africa at the SCG, Hayden made the sudden decision to quit international cricket, stunning the cricketing world. Some thought he would continue till the 2009 Ashes but poor form forced Hayden to hang up his boots.

The tickets of the match are being bought like hot cakes and it is aimed to raise more than $500,000 for the bushfire victims.

Sydney FC striker John Aloisi will also join the match but NRL star Benji Marshall will not be taking part as his problematic shoulders prevents him from throwing a cricket ball.
