Two of the top cricketing talents of India – Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli – took to Twitter to post inspirational messages for the fans on the occasion of the country’s 72nd Independence Day.

Tendulkar shared an image of him from India’s 2011 World Cup win and wrote, “Everything in life is hard-earned. Just like our independence. Among countless other things, there would have been no ‘Team India’ if not for the sacrifice of our brave freedom fighters. Let us not take that freedom for granted. #HappyIndependenceDay”

On the other hand, Virat Kohli urged the national to concentrate on the topics that unite us rather than dwelling on the difference. On the social networking site, he wrote: “Today, let’s celebrate the things that unite us all instead of dwelling on our differences. Howzzat for a change? #HappyIndependenceDay 🇮🇳 #StayWrogn @StayWrogn”

Kohli’s teammate – Shikhar Dhawan – also joined the skipper in wishing his fans on the historic occasion as he posted a picture of himself in a turban with the caption: “On this day, let us remember and salute our brave freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for our country and our armed forces who risk their lives everyday to keep our borders safe. Wishing all Indians a very #HappyIndependenceDay2018. Jai Hind! Vande Mataram!”

The Indian cricket team are currently in England where they are playing a five-match Test series. They were defeated in the first two matches and the three match will be held in Nottingham from August 18.
