17-year-old Rasikh Salaam, who was picked at his base price of ₹20 lakh by Mumbai, was handed his debut in the match against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium.
He received his maiden cap from former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan, who is currently Mumbai’s Director of Cricket. The young man is the only third cricketer from Kashmir to have been picked by an IPL franchise.
Salaam, hails from Kulgaam district, and made his first-class debut for Jammu & Kashmir in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 30 December 2018. He also made his Twenty20 debut for Jammu & Kashmir in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

During the J&K camp, Salam learnt tricks of the trade from Irfan Pathan.
“I worked a bit on the technical part and hopefully he will be able to keep those things in mind,” Irfan had said before the IPL began.
