IPL: RCB captain Virat Kohli captain on Monday shared photos of him hitting the ground running with his franchise on Twitter, announcing the start of another campaign.
Virat Kohli has been at the forefront of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL campaigns for 11 seasons now and has played in three finals, finishing on the wrong side of the result in each of those summit clashes.
In 2009, when RCB lost to Deccan Chargers in the final at Johannesburg, Kohli was still a youngster, looking to make his mark in world cricket. By the time RCB reached their second final in 2011, Kohli was already a World Cup winner, but had to swallow a bitter pill again as Chennai Super Kings outclassed RCB in the final. In 2016, Kohli led the team from the front, scoring as many as 4 centuries and shattering the record for most runs in a season. But a combined team effort by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final saw the trophy slip out of his grasp again.
Now, at the peak of his powers and carrying the hopes of an entire nation in a World Cuyp year, Kohli is once again looking to break his and his team’s hoodoo to prepare in style for the big event. The RCB captain on Monday shared photos of him hitting the ground running with his franchise on Twitter, announcing the start of another campaign.

Kohli has scored 4948 runs in 163 matches at a career strike-rate of 130.76 with 4 centuries and 34 half-centuries in his kitty. He has scored more than 300 runs in each of his past 9 seasons and the RCB will be hoping for a repeat of Kohli’s 2016 form, which saw him amass 973 runs in a season.
The Bengaluru outfit has added some important names to their squad such as Shimron Hetmyer and Marcus Stoinis and are expecting to finally win the crown which has eluded them for more than a decade.
