Along with Pollard (15 off 7*), he smashed an unbeaten 30-ball 40 to take MI to a 6-wicket win with 6 balls to spare. Rahul walked out to open with Mandeep Singh, who was brought in place of Mayank Agarwal. The two batters started cautiously, taking PBKS to 35/0 after 5 overs. But MI bowlers came back strong in the next 3 overs, bagging four wickets for just 15 runs. First, Krunal Pandya trapped Mandeep LBW for 14. In the next over, Kieron Pollard dismissed Chris Gayle (1) and Rahul (21) on successive balls to breach the 300-wicket mark in T20 cricket. Jasprit Bumrah outfoxed Nicholas Pooran with a slower-ball yorker in the next over to leave Punjab four down. Aiden Markram (42) and Deepak Hooda then steadied PBKS' ship by stitching a crucial 61-run stand for the 5th wicket. It was Rahul Chahar who broke the partnership by castling Markarm's off stump. Bumrah returned to dismiss Deepak Hooda on 28 as MI, eventually, restricted Punjab Kings to 135/6 in 20 overs.
