IPL 2025, LSG vs CSK Highlights: Chennai Super Kings were floundering when captain MS Dhoni walked into the middle in the 16th over. The 43-year-old had not quite been able to fire this season thus far in the death overs for CSK but he ended up rewinding the clock all the way back to his pomp as he smashed away and sparked life back into the CSK chase. Shivam Dube played second perfectly in that late charge and finished it off. Chennai Super Kings' new opening partnership worked for them but they have lost their way in the 167-run chase after the powerplay. Lucknow Super Giants' spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Aiden Markram struck in the middle overs, with CSK's ploy of sending Ravindra Jadeja at No.4 also not working. Debutant Shaik Rasheed and Rachin Ravindra earlier ensured that the five-time champions went at over 10 runs an over in the first four overs. However, the breaks were applied after that by the spinners in the middle overs, as was the case for LSG earlier in the day.
Rishabh Pant started aggressively and almost finished it in the same manner. However, his momentum was brought screeching to a halt, as was the case with the rest of the LSG batting effort, as MS Dhoni denied them pace. Pant was dismissed in the last over after scoring 63 runs but it took him 49 balls to get there. LSG have given CSK a target of 167 to chase. CSK spinners ensured a wicket every time it started to look like LSG are set to get a partnership.
MS Dhoni won the toss and said that Chennai Super Kings were bowling first. CSK have finally brought in Jamie Overton, dropping Devon Conway and handing a debut to Shaik Rasheed.
