Ishan Kishan's priceless reaction after Rohit Sharma welcomes him into 200 club with epic post
Ishan Kishan became the fourth Indian to score a double century in men's ODI and the first since Rohit Sharma last scored one in December 2017.
Ishan Kishan has become the latest entrant in the elite club of cricketers who have managed to score a double century in ODI cricket. Kishan's 210 off 131 balls helped India score a mammoth 409/8 and beat Bangladesh by 227 runs in the third ODI on Saturday. It marked the first time since December 2017 that an Indian player managed to cross 200 in an ODI match and the last man to do it was captain Rohit Sharma, whom Kishan had incidentally replaced in the squad.

Rohit was ruled out of the series after he split his webbing while fielding in the second ODI. It meant that Kishan was sent in to open the innings with Shikhar Dhawan in the third ODI. He ended up scoring his maiden international century and also became the first player to convert his first ODI ton into a double hundred. Rohit, who is the only player to have crossed 200 more than once in ODIs, congratulated Kishan on his Instagram handle in his own way.
“Yeh club ka mazza alag hai, @ishankishan23,” said Rohit in his caption to an Instagram post with a photo of Kishan celebrating the double century. “Maza hi maza hai,” Kishan replied to his captain. Rohit holds the record for the highest score in ODIs - 264 off 173 which he scored against Sri Lanka in November 2014, and it did look like Kishan had enough time to eclipse that. However, he fell on in the 36th over and later admitted that he could have scored a 300 had he kept going.
“The wicket was too good to bat on. My intent was very clear - if the ball is there, I'll go for it. I'm blessed to hear my name amid such legends. Still feel when I got out - 15 overs were left. Could've scored 300 also,” he said at the end of India's innings.
Apart from Rohit, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag are the two other Indians who have managed to score double centuries in ODIs. Both players congratulated him on Saturday while Tendulkar, who was the first-ever player to score a double hundred in the format, also congratulated Virat Kohli for scoring his 44th ODI century on Saturday.
