WI vs SL Commentary

4:38 AM IST Onto the Test matches - There's just one thing left to do now, and that's for Shai Hope to go on and lift the trophy. The Windies players rejoice and pose for a group photo as well. Right then, after Sri Lanka took the rain-marred ODI series 1-0, West Indies have roared back to clinch the T20I series 2-1 and level up the multi-format series overall. Next up, the two sides will go up against each other in a two-match Test series, beginning on Thursday, June 25, in North Sound, Antigua. That game will begin at 2 pm GMT, but you can tune in much sooner to catch our build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!
4:33 AM IST Let's now hear from Sri Lanka's captain - Kusal Mendis starts by applauding the batting unit, especially Dunith Wellalage, and reckons that they did well in the series but missed a few chances. Adds that he was happy with the score on the board, given the nature of the pitch, and lauds more praise on Dunith's all-round ability.
4:33 AM IST The winning skipper of West Indies - Shai Hope starts off saying that he feels great as the supporters come in large numbers, and he feels happy to give something in return. Adds that there is not much time between the games, so it's important to learn quickly from the matches and implement them in the next one. Regarding the plans for the World Cup, he says that each game and each series will be very important to them, and they will do their best to play good cricket and win matches in succession.
4:30 AM IST Player of the Match & Series - Shamar Joseph is adjudged as the POTM for his stellar five-wicket haul, and also the POTS for picking up a total of 11 wickets in the three-match T20I series. Shamar, on the reason behind his breathtaking performance, says that he tries to be consistent with his bowling and also gives credit to the bowling staff who work day in and day out to make the player do better. He adds that he always tries to execute the plan he's been assigned to do, and he feels today he did well. About his body workload, he says that he is naturally fit as he continuously works on his body. Bowling quick in natural for him as he wants to become the best in the country.
4:30 AM IST Recapping the first innings - Shai Hope won the toss and opted to bowl first, despite watching his side fail to chase in the previous game. Sri Lanka lost their skipper early, after which Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara built a steady stand. However, they kept losing wickets throughout the middle phase, going from 51/1 to 111/6. However, in the final few overs, Dunith Wellalage started to fire and played a handy cameo of 41 runs, before Shamar Joseph bowled a fine final over, picking up 3 wickets in the over, and 5 in total in the game as the Lankans finished with 169 runs on the board.
