Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh Commentary
12:07 PM IST The Harare horror show for Bangladesh - Zimbabwe win by an innings and 85 runs. This is also Zimbabwe's biggest margin of victory in Tests. It all started with a relentless Zimbabwe pace attack on Day 1. Bangladesh walked right into a storm, getting completely folded for a measly 140 runs after being 113/2 at one stage. Newman Nyamhuri and Brad Evans made the ball talk. Only Mominul Haque showed some fight with a gritty 60, but once he was dismissed, the middle and lower order collapsed like a pack of cards, losing eight wickets for just 27 runs. Newman Nyamhuri picked 4 wickets while Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani, and Brad Evans picked two wickets each in the first innings.
12:04 PM IST The white ball action awaits - That brings the curtains down on this one-off Test match. A truly convincing and memorable victory for Zimbabwe, who outclassed their opponents in every single department. But the cricketing action doesn't stop here. The red ball goes back into the box as the two sides now prepare to lock horns in a high-octane 3-match ODI series. The first ODI will be played on Monday, 6th July, starting at 7.30 am GMT. Make sure to tune in early for all the pre-match build-up and analysis. Until then, thank you so much for joining us. Goodbye and cheers!
12:03 PM IST Player of the Match - Innocent Kaia is the Player of the Match for his knock of 140 runs in 227 balls. He thanks God for giving him the opportunity, and he is happy to get his century. He adds that he put in the hard work to stay fit and that paid off. He reckons that Bangladesh bowlers did well, but it was his day. He ends by saying that in the upcoming series, they will give their best and hope for a good outcome.
11:51 AM IST Victorious skipper of Zimbabwe - Richard Ngarava expresses that winning his first Test as skipper provides a wonderful feeling, and he remains hopeful that the team can maintain this winning streak in their consecutive series. He mentions that expanding the pre-series training pool from 25 to around 40 players proves crucial, as it allows selectors to find and field the finest batters and bowlers in the country. Ngarava praises Brian Bennett as one of the lineup's top performers but highlights that total collective contributions from the rest of the batters are what drive this successful result. Furthermore, he shares immense pride in Newman's rapid development, predicting a massive future for him in Zimbabwean cricket.
11:45 AM IST The captain of Bangladesh - Najmul Hossain Shanto says that their batting was the problem in both innings, which ultimately cost them the match. Najmul Hossain Shanto notes that while the team has been playing good cricket recently, they fail to execute their plans properly in these different conditions. Shanto emphasizes that the batters do not select the right shots despite the talent in the lineup. Shanto mentions that the squad continues to perform brilliantly in white-ball cricket, securing victories in their last few series as new players successfully integrate into the side.
