Batsman Chamara Kapugedera was also axed from the national side announced today. Sri Lanka will also be without off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, senior batsman Mahela Jayawardene, all-rounder Angelo Mathews and fast bowler Dilhara Fernando who are nursing injuries.
The selectors recalled exciting middle-order batsman Chamara Silva back into the fold, while also sending an invitation to leg-spinner Malinga Bandara to fill in the vacant spinner's slot. Selectors have also named uncapped 20-year-old batsman Lahiru Thirimanne, while retaining all-rounder Thissara Perera, seamer Suranga Lakmal and spinner Suraj Randiv, who shone on debut in the recent tour of India.
The 15-member squad includes seven specialist batsmen, two all-rounders, four seam bowlers and two spinners for the tri-nations series, which begins on January 4 in Mirpur.
