Out of favour, Sreesanth turns music director for Tamil-Telugu film

Banned for life for his alleged involvement in Indian Premier League match-fixing last year, Sreesanth will make his movie debut scoring music for his brother’s bilingual (Tamil-Telugu) film and playing a small role in it.

Indian cricket’s bad boy, Sreesanth, is known for his on-field theatrics. Now, he turns to acting, dancing and song-writing for a living.

Banned for life for his alleged involvement in Indian Premier League match-fixing last year, Sreesanth will make his movie debut scoring music for his brother’s bilingual (Tamil-Telugu) film and playing a small role in it. His brother-in-law Madhu Balakrishnan, too, will sing for the film titled ‘Anbulla Azagae’.

“Sree will be composing all songs in the movie, a love story laced with suspense and drama. The main cast of the film hasn’t been finalised yet, but it will have the best in the industry,” said Dipu Shanthan, the film’s producer and Sreesanth’s elder brother, who owns a music company in Kochi.

Sreesanth is also likely to feature in the next season of dance-based TV show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa that is expected to start in August-September. “His assignment with Colors (TV channel) will not clash with his film,” said Shanthan.

Earlier, Sreesanth had produced and directed two music albums, the last during the 2011 World Cup.

Incidentally, the match-fixing case will be heard in court on May 16. Last year the same day he was arrested by the Delhi police for playing a key role in a spot-fixing scam with two other players of the Rajasthan Royals team.

The speedster got some relief a couple of months ago when his former teammate Virender Sehwag said he was innocent.
