When it comes to genes there are not many better to inherit than that of former India captain and one of the finest batsman the world has ever seen Rahul Dravid.
Fair to say Rahul Dravid’s elder son Samit Dravid is putting his talent to good use in school cricket.
The 12-year-old put in a terrific all-around his performance as his school, Aditi International School convincingly beat Cambridge Public School by nine wickets last week.
Samit first took three wickets for just nine runs and then struck a half-century to help his team complete the win.
This isn’t the first instance of Samit putting in an impressive performance either. Earlier this year he struck 150 for his school in Karnataka State Cricket Association’s (KSCA) BTR Cup as his school beat Vivekananda School by 412 runs.
Prior to this, he struck another ton representing Bangalore United Cricket Club (BUCC) two years ago in an U-14 tournament.
Samit was also awarded the best batsman in Gopalan Cricket Challenge as he struck three consecutive half-centuries for his school in 2015.
Samit’s heroic performances have come in the same time as Arjun Tendulkar, son of India great Sachin, has started to make his name in cricket. Recently the 18-year-old took his first wicket in his first match as India U-19 thrashed Sri Lanka U-19 in a Youth Test.
Maybe there is a chance that a Tendulkar and a Dravid will represent India once again.
