This was Railways' first victory this season and the six points from this match took their tally to 10 from five outings. UP, meanwhile, suffered to their first loss. UP's second innings looked like a repeat of the first one with wickets falling on regular intervals. Though overnight batsmen Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Md Kaif started Day 3 on a positive note, stitching together 56 runs for the second wicket, their departure in quick succession opened the floodgates.

Brief scores: Railways 374 bt UP 79 & 201 in 93.3 ovs (B Kumar 35, M Kaif 36, P Gupta 41; M Kartik: 5/27).
