“We made the request for a brief panchayat poll schedule owing to the limited manpower we have… A long poll schedule would adversely affect the rebuilding process in the disaster-hit areas as we have limited number of officials,” said chief minister Harish Rawat while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here at the police headquarters on Monday.
Hours after the CM’s statement, state election commissioner Suvardhan announced at a press conference that the panchayat polls would be held on March 21 and 24.
