A 67-year-old woman died after she fell off an autorickshaw and was run over by a truck laden with gas cylinders in New Delhi on Sunday, the police said.

The woman’s 62-year-old male relative was also injured in the accident, they added.

The incident was reported from northwest Delhi’s Rani Bagh.

Shakuntala Devi, a resident of Pitampura, was on her way to Madhuban Chowk from Dipali Chowk along with Ramprakash in an autorickshaw.

A truck laden with Indane gas cylinders passed near the auto at Madhuban Chowk.

In order to avoid hitting the truck, the autorickshaw driver moved a little towards the other side but collided with another autorickshaw.

The woman was thrown out of the moving auto and was run over by the truck, police said.

Ramprakash also sustained injuries in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
