A senior official of the regional weather forecasting centre of the India Meteorological Department said that the minimum and maximum temperature is likely to remain around 25 degrees Celsius and 39 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

While the day temperature was recorded at 38.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday, one degree below normal, Delhi had recorded the hottest day of the season so far on April 30, when the day temperature touched 43.7 degrees Celsius. A few areas in Delhi also received a little rain in the last 24 hours.

“The sky is expected to remain partly cloudy because of a western disturbance on Sunday. There are also chances of thunder and lightning later in the day. There are chances of lightning next week around May 14 and 15,” a senior official of the regional weather forecasting centre.

The rain will help to bring down the day temperature mid-next week. The maximum temperature could drop to around 37 degrees Celsius by Tuesday.
