Delhi wakes up to a cloudy morning, pleasant weather to stay till weekend

Some parts of the Capital received rain showers on Thursday as the Capital woke up to a pleasant cloudy morning after three consecutive days of searing heatwave.

The national capital woke up to a cloudy and mildly humid morning with the mercury dropping to three notches below the normal. At 8am, the temperature was at 37 degree Celsius. Some parts of south Delhi also received light to heavy rain showers.

The weather is expected to remain pleasant throughout the day as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cloudy sky and rains. The weather conditions are expected to persist for the next few days with the MeT department predicting ‘partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunderstorm’ on Friday and Saturday too.

“The maximum temperature may also go up by two degrees on Friday and Saturday while the minimum will remain at 25 degree mark. The sky will remain cloudy and the city may get rain with thunder storm. There is also a possibility of dust storm,” the official said.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature dropped to 37.2 degree Celsius, three points below normal and the minimum, too, settled at 26 degree Celsius, two degrees below normal.

Humidity levels could hover around 49 per cent.

Delhiites experienced hot weather conditions for three days with the maximum temperature settling at 44.1 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, five notches above normal. However, some parts of Delhi witnessed strong winds with light rain in early hours of the day .

The maximum temperature dropped to 37.2 degree Celsius, three points below normal and the minimum, too, settled at 26 degree Celsius, two degrees below normal.

According to a MeT official, a western disturbance was responsible for the slight rain relief in some parts of the city.
