Minor fire breaks out at Delhi’s Barakhamba metro station, train services unaffected

Three fire tenders doused the flames within 15-20 minutes, officials said.

A fire broke out at Delhi’s Barakhamba metro station on Thursday night.

The fire was spotted at the electric panel in an auxiliary sub-station room around 10.11pm. Three fire tenders rushed to the spot. Officials said the flames were doused within 10 minutes.

Metro officials said the fire was caused by a short circuit in the technical room at the station. A Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official said there was not much smoke and the fire was doused by the metro officials using exhaust fans of the station.

“Fire brigade was called as a precautionary measure. It was not a major fire. Train services were running normal,” said a DMRC official.
