A 16-year-old teenager died while a girl he was ‘dating’, a class 9 student at a government school, is battling for her life after they were stabbed in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad on Tuesday afternoon.
Rahul Kumar was returning along with the girl from her school when they were attacked by some unidentified persons at an isolated locality behind a government undertaking unit in Sahibabad, police said.
“The boy died due to excessive bleeding after he sustained a major stab wound on his chest. The girl’s throat was slashed but she survived. She has multiple stitches on her neck and is unable to speak,” said Prashant Kumar Mishra, station house officer, Link Road police station.
“We are waiting for her to recover. Her statements will be crucial. The boy’s body was found behind a public sector undertaking office. We are probing all angles. It seems the same person stabbed both of them,” Mishra said.
The police are yet to recover the murder weapon. The officials said the area has a thick growth of bushes and they would search the spot again to trace the weapon.
According to police, both the victims are from Bihar and are neighbours at Kadkad Model in Sahibabad.
Brijesh Kumar, brother of Rahul, claimed the girl was dating someone else but had a break-up. “The girl was stabbed but she to her house. My brother was cornered and stabbed to death. I suspect the attacker could be her previous boyfriend and may have come with others,” he said.
“We do not suspect anyone from the girl’s family as they are our neighbours and have good relations with us,” he said. The police were tight-lipped.
