A 22-year-old woman was allegedly shot at by her husband at their house in Dwarka’s Mahavir Enclave on Sunday evening. The woman, who sustained an injury on her lower back, was said to be out of danger, police said. Her husband was arrested from the house.

According to police, a PCR call was received at the Dabri police station saying that a woman has been shot on the third floor of a house in Mahavir Enclave. A police team reached the spot where family members said that the injured woman has been taken to hospital.

“Police reached Bhagat Chandra hospital where the victim, Priyanshi, alias Tannu, was found admitted with a gun shot wound in the lower back,” Anto Alphonse, DCP (Dwarka), said.

The woman told police that she got married to Vikram alias Roshan Jha, who was an ambulance driver, five years back. The police said that he used to take money from her for liquor after he lost his job. She had left for her mother’s house after the two had a fight. “She was at her mother’s on Saturday evening when Roshan arrived. When she went to the refrigerator to get water for him, he took out a pistol and shot at her and fled,” the officer said.

Police said the injured woman has been declared fit for statement by doctors and a case has been registered on her complaint.
