Robbers’ gang busted, Rs 4.35 lakh recovered
The three-member gang had snatched a bag containing Rs 6.5 lakh from a caterer on September 1.
The Indirapuram police on Monday arrested three members of a gang who snatched a bag of cash from a caterer near Kanawani on the morning of September 1. The police said the gang travelled in a Maruti SX4 and targeted people carrying cash.

The police identified the three accused as Ram Kumar Kashyap, a resident of Nehru Nagar, and Pramod Kashyap and Vinod Kashyap, both residents of Modinagar.
“The gang was in search of people carrying cash to market places and to deposit in banks. On the morning of the incident, the victim stopped his motorcycle by the roadside to relieve himself. There was a bag containing Rs 6.5 lakh on the motorcycle. The men arrived in the car, pulled his bag away and sped off,” Ravi Kumar, assistant superintendent of police (Indirapuram), said.
The victim, identified as S Kumar, is a caterer in Meerut and had come to Ghaziabad to shop for necessities for his business.
“After the incident, the victim lodged an FIR at the Indirapuram police station against the unidentified men. He gave us leads about the men in the car. We deployed some informers as well. On the basis of the information, the three men were arrested from the Vasundhara crossing on Monday,” Kumar added.
He said the police would impose the provisions of the Gangster Act if they were found to be involved in previous cases of heinous crimes.
The police recovered Rs 4.35 lakh of the amount stolen from the victim, and seized the SX4 used by the accused during the crime. The victim’s bag and other documents were also recovered.
