NEW DELHI: The Delhi Congress on Wednesday wrote to the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) seeking inquiry into the alleged violation of guidelines in setting up mohalla clinics by the AAP government.

Delhi Pradesh Congress president Ajay Maken in his complaint said to extend pecuniary advantage to its members, the government opened clinics in properties owned by the party workers or office bearers.

He alleged these health facilities were being run in dilapidated and unhygienic premises at far off locations.

Addressing a press conference, Maken said as per the CVC guidelines dated July, 1999, whenever new commercial or residential premises are to be acquired on lease or rent, an advertisement is released in the newspapers.

“The only selection criteria for the mohalla clinics is to favour AAP workers or office bearers. The govt not only bypassed the tender process, but also shunned the obligation to ascertain the market rent,” he said.

According to him, the government is paying `2 crore as rent annually for 105 mohalla clinics.
