NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Thursday arrested the director of a company making tubes for allegedly stealing documents of his property he had mortgaged with Axis Bank a loan of Rs 5 crore.

Sunil Dutt allegedly went to the bank in Rajouri Garden on June 2 and requested the authorities to show him the papers of his property that he had mortgaged. When the bank gave him the papers, he ran out. The bank staff chased him but he managed to escape.
Joint commissioner of police, crime, Ravindra Yadav, said, “Axis Bank had sanctioned a loan facility of Rs 499 lakh to Abhishek Tubes Ltd. One of the securities for this loan facility was a property in Gurgaon, Haryana. On June 2, director of the company — Dutt — and owner of the mortgaged property went to Axis Bank, Vishal Enclave Branch and requested to see the property title papers.”
“When the papers were shown to him by the staff, instead of returning them after going through them, he ran out of the bank with the property title papers. The bank staff chased him to main road and one of them even caught hold of him but he managed to escape in an auto-rickshaw,” he said.
