10 labourers die, four injured

The victims, all labourers, in the mini-truck were on their way back home from a construction site in IMT Manesar. The condition of the three injured is reported to be critical.

Among the dead, only five could be identified — Ajij, 35, Dilip, 28, Furtu, 30, Samshad, 60 and Ramzaan, 21. The injured — Raju, 28, Bindesh, 38, Soman, 65 and Asgar Ali, 35 — were rushed to Bala Jee Hospital.

The victims hail from Sidhartha Nager and Basti district of Uttar Pradesh. They were living in Sonia Vihar in Delhi. “The mini-truck was loaded with iron rods and bricks. The labourers were sleeping just beside them. When the vehicle hit the parked truck, the rods and bricks fell on them,” said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP east, Gurgaon.

According to the doctor, the victims died due to head injuries and spinal trauma.

The incident took place when the mini-truck driver lost control and hit the parked truck from behind. “The victims were trapped inside the canter, and bricks and rods were all over them. The police and passersby helped to rescue the victims,” said Laxman Yadav, a local resident.
