A deputy health officer and malaria inspector of Rohini zone have been suspended following reports of 11 dengue deaths on Tuesday. North Delhi mayor Azad Singh said the fatalities were yet to be confirmed.
“We have heard of four unconfirmed dengue deaths but residents claim 11 people have died. We will conduct a probe and gather data from hospitals where these people were admitted,” the mayor added.
More than 100 dengue cases have been reported in the Capital every day for the past many days taking the total number of cases to 1,355 (till Monday) from 912. Rohini is the worst zone in the city with a total of 291 positive dengue cases so far this year.
During a recent check to find out mosquito-breeding conditions, officials found breeding inside Japanese Park, the venue of Narendra Modi’s Sunday rally.
Hospitals across the city have reported 16 deaths so far but the civic corporations have confirmed only two.
