16 men detained from Tughlak road

Sixteen persons, protesting against the implementation of an anti-communal riot bill to be introduced in the next session of Parliament, were detained outside 10 Janpath in New Delhi on Saturday evening. HT reports.

Sixteen persons, protesting against the implementation of an anti-communal riot bill to be introduced in the next session of Parliament, were detained outside 10 Janpath in New Delhi on Saturday evening.

"They were protesting against the introduction of the bill and wanted to meet Sonia Gandhi. When they were not allowed to go inside, one of them, identified as Narsingh Saras, doused his person with kerosene and was immediately stopped around 1:30 pm," said a senior police officer.

Police said the sixteen were whisked away to and detained at the Tughlak Road Police Station and were released in the evening.
