A Delhi court on Wednesday sentenced serial killer Chandrakant Jha to death in a 2006 murder case, a day after he was given the gallows for another murder.

A Delhi court on Wednesday sentenced serial killer Chandrakant Jha to death in a 2006 murder case, a day after he was given the gallows for another murder.

Hailing from Madhepura in Bihar, Jha had allegedly killed six people and after each murder, he would write a letter to the police, challenging them to arrest him. Jha used to invite his victims to his house and would take special care of them only to murder them in cold-blood and chop off their body parts.

Immediately after pronouncement of the verdict, Jha asked the court to fix a date for execution of the punishment. “Agar main appeal file nahi karta to kya aap meri phansi ki tareekh tay kar sakti hain abhi (If I don’t appeal, can you fix the date for execution of my death sentence now?)” Jha asked the judge. But the judge declined.

“The convict is a mission-oriented and task-oriented serial killer whose only motive/mission was to expose, mock and challenge police,” the judge said. In a separate case, the court had sentenced Jha to prison till death on Monday.
