The Delhi Police have arrested two suspected Maoists, who they said were in the Capital to collect funds and arms for a next week's training camp in Myanmar.
The duo, arrested on Monday from the Lodhi Road area of south Delhi, used to provide logistic support to new recruits training at camps across India, sources said.
This is second such arrest within 24 hours from south Delhi. On Tuesday, a 35-year-old “Naxal operative” was arrested from Katwari Sarai. A resident of Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, Soni Sori is wanted in five cases of extortion in the central state.
“They were in the Capital since September 28 and had been meeting their contacts in Delhi,” a police officer said about the two men, said to be the cadres of the People's Liberation Army. “We have taken them in custody to get information about their contacts.”
A court on Monday sent Arun, 30, and Dilip, 40 - both go by single names - to 10-day police custody.
“We have recovered some incriminating documents from them apart from two laptops, which have been sent for forensic examination,” said the officer, who refused to be identified as he is not authorised to speak to the media. South Delhi safe haven for Maoists?

The men admitted that they had to drop the weapons in Ranchi from where they were to be sent to Myanmar, where a training camp for Maoists is scheduled, the officer said.
