4-year-old girl, youth killed in road accidents

Two young lives were snuffed out in two separate road accidents in the Capital, on Friday. In the first incident, a four-year-old girl was crushed to death by a Uttar Pradesh (UP) Roadways bus near Anand Vihar ISBT area, around 12pm.

Police said Sonam was crossing the road when she was crushed under the wheels of the bus. “She was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead,” said a senior police officer requesting anonymity. Shiv Prakash, the bus driver, has been arrested.

In another incident, one Maksood, 19, was run over by a DTC bus in Mangolpuri area on Friday morning. Police said Maksood was on his way to work in his two-wheeler when the bus hit him. “He was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries,” said a senior police officer. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the driver, who has been arrested.
