6 arrested for the gang rape of Delhi teen in Jaipur hotel

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by ten persons at a hotel in Jaipur, where she was taken to, on the pretext of job, by a couple. The girl managed to escape from the hotel and came back to Delhi within 24 hours after which she reported the matter to the police. Six persons have been arrested so far in connection with the incident.

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by 11 men at a Jaipur hotel where she was taken on the pretext of a job by a couple living in her neighbourhood in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area. Six persons, including the couple and the hotel manager, have been arrested, police said. A hunt is on for six others.

In her statement to the Mangolpuri police, the minor said she was confined to a room at the Indraprastha Hotel, denied food and repeatedly raped on August 30. She managed to escape her captors the next day and made a formal police complaint when she reached Delhi on September 1.

A medical examination confirmed rape. “She approached her neighbours Rocky and Rani to help find her a job on August 29,” a Delhi Police officer said.

“The couple said she could earn good money at Indraprastha Hotel and left with her for Jaipur the same day. On reaching the hotel (on August 30), she was reportedly confined to a room and raped by 11 men. She said the first two men entered the room together and took turns to rape her. After a few minutes, another group walked in and raped her. This went on for over 24 hours,” the officer said.

According to sources, the girl was in urgent need of employment as her alcoholic father had run the family into heavy debt. “The girl told us the couple had helped many women get ‘jobs’. We suspect they are part of an ongoing racket,” an official said.
